How To Use Gmail For Your Domain Email (Step-by-Step Guide)

I had to show a client how to set up their personal gmail account to manage and send their domain name emails. So here is the process for you to follow step-by-step.

Assumptions: I assume that you can already receive emails to your domain name email address (such as yourname@domainname.com) because you need to be able to receive an email there that will come from Gmail just to verify that you have and own this domain name email address.

Getting Started:

Go to your gmail account, and go to ‘Settings’

Then add your email address you want to add to Gmail in these two places here:

For ‘add another email address you own’ (this is to allow your Gmail account to send emails AS your new email address):

Step 1:

Step 2:

step 3:

57039e51-bd8c-4241-8c0c-2c25d50d097e

So you should receive an email to your email address that you have set up with your first lot of settings via the Server:

Enter the confirmation code here and hit ‘verify’:

For ‘Add a POP3 mail account you own’:

step 1:

b6054854-f2b7-4d67-bedc-e2b1e76a6bca

step 2:

bf667c35-03f5-4894-bddf-c6d964d972c8

and hit ‘Add Account’. Your emails will now be retrieved by Google and go into your Gmail account.

Setting Up Your New Gmail Email. Set up a Google IMAP email in your mail client:

So you want to set up a new email in your mail client using the following:

Incoming Mail Server: imap.gmail.com
username: (your original Gmail username, which is zjbuilders – leave off the @gmail.com
password: (your gmail account password)

Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.gmail.com
username: (your original gmail username, this time with @gmail.com, so zjbuilders@gmail.com
password: (your gmail account password)

make sure you use SSL

for example, mine is like this:

2fe2d10d-eec6-42af-92ff-d820f26eadf1

And you should be done! Phew.
